Anyeé Farrar is a soprano from Virginia Beach, Virginia who is based out of the Cincinnati/Kentucky area. She recently obtained her master’s degree in music with a concentration in Voice Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) in May of 2020.   During 2014-2018, she attended and graduated with her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA)

Soprano Anyeé Farrar’s interest in opera began in high school at the Governor’s School for the Arts (GSA) in Norfolk, Virginia, where she received invaluable vocal training and stage experience. Upon acceptance at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, she was named a Fletcher Scholar and awarded a scholarship given to exceptional undergraduates for the course of their studies at UNCSA.  Most recently, Ms. Farrar was performing as LA CHAUVE-SOURIS and UNE PASTOURELLE with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra in their production of L’enfant et les Sortilèges in Februrary of 2020. During her time at UNCSA, she was performing on the mainstage of the Stevens Center alongside the Fellows of the Institute, performing the roles of CLORINDA in Rossini’s La Cenerentola, NAIAD in Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos and EDITH in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance with Piedmont Opera. Over the course of ten years she has tackled over 10 principle roles in fully staged operas, as well as several others in opera scenes at GSA, UNCSA, CCM, the Tidewater Opera Institute, and the Vocal Arts Festival in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was featured as the SOPRANO SOLOIST in Bach’s Cantata 80 and Handel’s Messiah with the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra.  During her time in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Ms. Farrar studied with Dr. Marilyn Taylor at UNCSA.  After her time at UNCSA, Ms. Farrar attended the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in pursuit of her master’s degree and studied with Dr. Gwen Coleman at CCM.  She was awarded a Graduate Incentive Award for the duration of her graduate studies at CCM.  While at CCM, she was seen onstage as the SOPRANO SOLOIST in Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915 with the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra in their “Americana Symphony” concert in 2018 and performed the roles of IL DESTINO and LINFEA in the CCM Opera Workshop’s production of Francesco Cavalli’s Calisto. During her final year, Ms. Farrar performed the role of ESMERALDA in the mainstage production of The Bartered Bride by Smetana with Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in November of 2019 and the roles of LA CHAUVE-SOURIS and UNE PASTOURELLE with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra in their production of L’enfant et les Sortilèges in Februrary of 2020. During the summer of 2020, she worked with Walterhoope in an interactive opera radical dance film called 13th & Republic.

Ms. Farrar has studied with Shelly Milam-Ratliff at GSA in Norfolk, VA, Wendy Waller in the Istia-Vox Studio di Bel Canto young artist program in Weimar, Germany, Martile Rowland in the Vocal Arts Festival in Colorado Springs, CO and Dr. Marilyn Taylor at UNCSA.  She has been directed and conducted by Scott Williamson, Alan Fischer, Steve LaCosse, Audrey Chait, Marcus Shields, James Bonas, Jamie Albritten, Aurelien Eulert, David Effron, Antony Walker, and Louis Langrée.
